8″ Oak Cooking Wood Splits

Our 8” cooking wood splits are sized to work with smaller cooking equipment, such as vertical smokers, larger kamado grills, offset smokers, and small camping grills. Each split is half the size of our cooking logs, at 8” long by 1-2” thick. And while we cut the size, we kept the quality – these ultra-premium kiln-dried splits are inspected and hand-selected by our expert team to ensure they meet our rigorous quality standards, so you know you’re getting an unmatched product.

Cooking with oak is the top choice for those who want to keep added flavor to a minimum. Oak gives a more subtle smoke flavor to food, making it the perfect wood to use when you’re not looking to add too much. It also makes it the ideal wood to mix with other species, serving as your primary heat source without overpowering the other flavors…Oak is a popular choice for high-end restaurants and serious home chefs.

The Story Behind our Oak Cooking Wood

We work with suppliers in both North Georgia and North Florida to source quality oak cooking wood. Like all of our cooking wood products, Cutting Edge oak undergoes the most rigorous drying process in the industry. Each piece is cut to specific dimensions and then cooked at 250 degrees for 48 hours, far exceeding FDA regulations.

This drying process ensures that every piece of oak delivered to our warehouse, and then to your home, is free of bugs, mold, and fungus. It also enhances the cooking experience by making the firewood easier to light, smoke less, and provide more heat and light.

Because we send fresh wood through the drying process, you can rest assured that the wood won’t be dirty or decomposing. It will be sturdy and durable, perfect for burning inside a luxury fire. We hand select each piece of oak before cutting them into perfectly sized cooking wood splits.

Oak is a popular cooking wood and makes an excellent heat source. Unlike hickory or pecan, oak provides a very subtle flavor. Chefs often combine oak with other cooking woods in order to create a perfect mixture of heat and flavor. It’s great for smoking and grilling, for steaks, pizza, and beyond!
