Because the specific uses of uncut rounds vary widely, you have more choices when it comes to your order size. Not only can you get a half order (which will fill a 2-foot by 4-foot rack), but you can also get a quarter order (which will fill a 2-foot by 2-foot rack). You even have the option of getting a single uncut round--that is, one log of oak that is 24 inches long and 4 to 8 inches in diameter.
Measuring Firewood Orders in Terms of Face Cords
If you’re a long-time fire pit enthusiast, you might be more familiar with measuring firewood volume in terms of face cords. If you’re trying to make the calculation, one order of firewood is equivalent to half of a face cord (which comes out to about 21 and 1/3 cubic feet). Again, when stacked, the resulting pile of firewood is generally about 4 feet long by 4 feet wide, but you always have the freedom to alter the dimensions, depending on the specifications of the space in which you are storing the firewood.
